Therapy for Adolescents
in Hove.
Psychotherapy for young people aged 15 to 25, based in Hove.
The intensity of adolescence.
Adolescence is one of the most intense periods of life. Questions of identity, independence, sexuality, peer relationships, family dynamics, and the pressure of an uncertain world all arrive at the same time. It can feel overwhelming, even when, from the outside, things look okay.
Young people are often told they are overreacting, or that things will pass. Sometimes they do. But sometimes what's happening needs more than time, it needs a space to be properly thought about.
Confidential and separate.
One of the most important things therapy offers a young person is a space that is entirely their own, separate from parents, school, and peers. A place where they can say what they actually think and feel, without consequences. Confidentiality is at the heart of this work.
Warm and collaborative.
I work with young people aged 15 and above. My approach is warm and collaborative, I don't lecture or advise, but listen carefully and help them find their own understanding. I have experience working with anxiety, identity difficulties, family breakdown, self-harm, and the particular pressures facing young people today.
I also recognise that adolescent states of mind don't always end at 18. I work with many people in their early-to-mid twenties navigating the transition to adulthood.
